America Movil net profit falls 42% in Q1
2016-04-28 11:01:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) America Movil reported a drop in first-quarter results, hurt by currency effects and the economic slowdown in Latin America. Revenues of MXN 223 billion were up just 1.4 percent year-on-year. Service revenues increased 0.3 percent in local currency and declined 1.1 percent at constant exchange rates. Fixed-broadband and pay-TV revenues led the growth, increasing 7.9 percent and 5.9 percent at constant exchange rates. EBITDA of MXN 61.7 billion was down 9.6 percent in local currency and 8.8 percent lower at constant exchange rates. Operating profit fell 25.6 percent in local currency terms, reflecting both the EBITDA reduction and a 10.3 percent increase in depreciation and amortization charges. The company obtained a net profit of MXN 4.8 billion in the quarter, down from MXN 8.3 billion a year ago.

America Movil considers sale of 21% KPN stake - report
2016-04-21 14:20:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) America Movil is considering the sale of its minority stake in Dutch operator KPN, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. The 21 percent stake is what remains of America Movil's failed takeover attempt of KPN almost three years ago. KPN's share price has roughly doubled in the past three years, and the stake is now worth about EUR 3.2 billion. Bloomberg's sources said the stake could be attractive to other operators looking to expand in Europe, such as Deutsche Telekom, Orange or Altice. However, America Movil hasn't made a final decision about the timing or structure of a sale, the report said.

America Movil Q4 sales flat, EBITDA falls 3%
2016-02-10 08:28:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) America Movil saw its revenue growth slow to 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2015, for a total of MXN 231 billion. Service revenues declined 0.6 percent year-on year at constant exchange rates, in line with the preceding two quarters. Mobile data revenues rose 10.3 percent, fixed data was up 7.9 percent, and pay-TV revenues grew 6.6 percent, helping to offset weakness in some mobile markets. EBITDA fell 2.9 percent to MXN 63.9 billion, while net profit rose six-fold to MXN 15.7 billion, thanks to lower financing costs and forex losses. Net debt rose to MXN 585 billion, or 1.8 times EBITDA, from MXN 537 billion at the end of 2014. AMX proposed a dividend of MXN 0.28 per share, payable in two installments, and said it will also buy back up to MXN 12 billion of its shares.
