Spacecraft Platform Engineering Lead

Primary purpose of role Based in Los Angeles, the Spacecraft Platform Engineering lead will work closely with the spacecraft manufacturer and key stakeholders within Inmarsats headquarters. Your role will be to supervise the Contractor, to ensure the design, engineering, manufacturing and testing of the Bus for the Inmarsat 5 F4 spacecraft are of the required quality standard, within specifications and delivered in the planned time frame. You will have overall responsibility of the spacecraft Bus. Your responsibilities will include operational support to the satellite operation department in London. Key responsibilities Integrate with the contractor teams, to lead and coordinate their efforts to procure the Bus. Participate in and lead the in Bus system, manufacturing, test and delivery reviews. This includes Power, Thermal, ADCS, Propulsion and Flight Software sub systems. Supervise the assembly integration and testing of the Inmarsat 5 F4 Bus. Manage the contractor for timely resolution of the spacecraft Bus subsystems, technical and schedule problems. Report issues and contractual conflicts affecting satisfactory problem resolution. Support new space infrastructure procurement tasks. Support the London based operational team as required. Essential knowledge and skills Degree in Engineering with proven experience in the field of Spacecraft platform subsystems. Significant experience in satellite design manufacturing and test, system engineering and program management. Extensive knowledge and understanding of satellite design, assembly integration and test. Excellent writing and reporting skills. Excellent communication skills with people at all levels of the organisation. Ability to coach other member of the Satellite Engineering team. Leadership The ideal candidate will be able to make objective decisions whilst demonstrating dynamic resourcing to integrate with the contractor teams. The individual will be accountable for delivering tactical solutions that are in line with the program plan. The individual will handle tension and pressure within the working environment carefully and discretely and will have experience in developing teams and individuals. Google's rivals are none too impressed with the company's most recent round of proposals designed to appease antitrust concerns and end what is now a three-year-old case with the European Commission.
