Reuters: A major U.S. oil and gas lobbying group on Tuesday said it filed a lawsuit in District of Columbia Circuit Court challenging the Environmental Protection Agency's renewable fuel volume requirements for 2013. The American Petroleum Institute said EPA's mandate, not issued for 2013 until August, demanded the use of far more cellulosic ethanol - a fuel made from plant materials like wood and grasses - than is available in the marketplace. UNICA: Increased Sugar Cane Grinding Directed Toward Ethanol Production

The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) announced October 1 that it estimates sugar cane-grinding in the South-Central region of Brazil to reach 587 million metric tons this 2013/2014 season, a decrease of 0.44% over its projection released in April (589.6 million metric tons) and an increase of 10.18% versus the volume of sugar cane processed in the last harvest (532.76 million metric tons).
