Avaya beats Q3 guidance with return to annual revenue growth

(Telecompaper) Avaya reported a strong improvement in results for the fiscal third quarter to June, well ahead of its own guidance. Revenues returned to annual growth, at USD 721 million versus USD 717 million a year ago, and the net result moved to a profit of USD 9 million from a loss of USD 633 million a year earlier.

Avaya still in takeover talks but with no time-table

(Telecompaper) Avaya said that the takeover talks it hoped would be completed by mid-September are still ongoing and that it remains in advanced discussions. Reports in March said the company was considering a leveraged buy-out offer form a private equity firm. The company later confirmed it was it was considering takeover offers and that these would be completed soon.

Avaya posts quarterly loss of USD 633 mln on impairment, sees takeover talks concluded in month

(Telecompaper) Avaya reported a net loss of USD 633 million for its fiscal third quarter to June, hurt by an impairment charge of USD 657 million to write down goodwill at its Products & Solutions division due to reduced prospects. The company also withdrew its long-term outlook, saying this will be updated after it completes its evaluation of takeover offers, expected in the next 30 days.

Avaya confirms takeover talks after disappointing Q1 results

(Telecompaper) Avaya has confirmed it's looking at possible takeover bids for the company after a number of expressions of interest. The company hired JP Morgan to assist in looking at the strategic options. The announcement came alongside results below expectations for its fiscal second quarter to March.

Mitel makes USD 2.2-2.4 bln bid for Avaya - report

(Telecompaper) Mitel has made an offer for Avaya at USD 20-22 per share, or USD 2.2-2.4 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The deal could be announced next month, but could also not work out, the sources added. A combined company could better compete with Cisco, the report added.
