Telkom Kenya reorganizes into 4 divisions

(Telecompaper) Telkom Kenya has reorganised its structure into four business divisions: Mobile, Fixed, Wholesale and Real Estate. Under the reorganization, Amer Atwi joins the company as head of the Mobile Business Division. Prior to this appointment, Atwi was the Managing Director at Comium, a mobile operator in Gambia. He also previously worked in various positions at LibanCell, a mobile operator in Lebanon. John Barorot, a seasoned professional in the ICT sector, who started his career at Telkom Kenya and later served in senior management positions at Safaricom and Airtel, rejoins the business as its Chief Technical and Information Officer. George Mokogi, the company's incumbent Chief Carrier Services Officer becomes head of the Wholesale Division. The heads of the Fixed and Real Estate Business Divisions will be named in due course. The company's Chief Finance Officer, Francois Bresson is confirmed in his role of CFO. Steven Evans has been appointed Executive Vice-Chairman of the board and will take over the executive responsibilities for strategy.

Helios names Mareuse as new Orange Kenya CEO

(Telecompaper) Helios Investment Partners, the new majority shareholders of Orange Kenya has appointed former Orascom executive Aldo Mareuse as CEO of the company, Business Daily reported. Mareuse, an engineer by profession and former chief finance officer (CFO) of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding, takes over from Vincent Lobry, who has served since September 2014. John Barorot, the former Safaricom chief technical officer (CTO), has been appointed chief technical and information officer (CTIO), replacing Jean Marie Garcia.
Orange Kenya says will not rebrand despite sale conclusion

(Telecompaper) Orange Kenya will not rebrand, at least for now, following the sale of a majority stake to Helios. The Treasury said the new owners will instead be required to concentrate on turning around the company to effectively compete with Safaricom, Airtel and Equitel in the market. According to the government, the company will still use the Orange brand for at least 18 months, The Star reported.
