It has been more than a week since the Kate Spade flagship store in Highland Village caught fire and the store remains closed for repairs. Houston Fire Department officials have yet to determine the cause of the one-alarm blaze that broke out around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 15. "The safety of our employees and customers is our primary concern and we are working diligently to re-open by the end of January," Kate Spade New York representatives tell CultureMap.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with Songy HighRoads, a commercial real estate development firm based in Atlanta, Ga., to develop Hyatt Regency Houston Galleria. The hotel will be managed by Aimbridge Hospitality and is scheduled to open in fall 2015.

Jack Breard, president and partner of UCR Urban in Dallas, is one of the executives that will oversee retail leasing at the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave. Details of the sale of the Hill Country Galleria to the California State Teacher's Retirement System and partner Invesco Real Estate have been slow to leak out, but Tuesday afternoon officials with Dallas-based United Commercial Realty, known as UCR, told me they are taking over the retail leasing and management of the 1.3 million mixed-use project in Bee Cave.

After closing stores due to a shaky economy, Wilsons Leather is returning to malls, including a new location at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville . Scheduled to open Oct. 1, the local store will fill 4,512 square feet in the current Vertigo space near Lululemon Athletica in the Galleria.
