While it originated in 2011 as networking group powered by PMA, Women in Manufacturing (WiM) became its own 501(c)6 national trade association as of April 1, 2015. WiM's first board meeting was held in Washington, D.C. on March 26, when discussions were had in resolutions concerning establishment of executive and nominating committees, appointment of officers, association's financial position, and FY2015 budget approval. Gretchen Zierick was elected as WiM’s first chairperson.
