Intel will offer 'Broadwell' SOC to battle Calxeda, AMD

Intel has updated its road map with a new, low-power server chip to help it ward off competition from Calxeda and other makers of low-power chips. The new chip will be based on Broadwell, a microarchitecture to be introduced next year as the successor to Intel's Haswell design. But this processor will be a system-on-chip, setting it apart from Intel's other Xeon server products.

With control knob option, pitch of Uhing RG Linear Drives may be adjusted while drive is moving without changing motor speed. Option bypasses standard notched settings on scale by using worm gear and threaded rod design. To change linear pitch, operator turns knob on end of threaded rod; pitch indicator moves along scale as knob is turned. While standard control lever limits pitch adjustability to notched settings, worm gear option permits infinitely adjustable pitch throughout 10:1 range.
