Continental Resources adds to oil acreage at North Dakota auction
2015-03-20 00:04:14| Electronics - Topix.net
Continental Resources Inc, the second-largest North Dakota oil producer, spent $2.3 million at a state land auction for the right to explore for crude on 160 acres, outbidding its nearest rival with just seconds left on the clock. The deal, secured this week with a check to state officials, shows that despite the more-than 60 percent drop in crude prices since last summer, demand for oil-rich acreage in the state remains high.

Morocco raises MAD 2 billion in LTE auction
2015-03-19 10:36:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Moroccan telecom regulator ANRT has approved the bids for LTE licences submitted by the country's three mobile operators, Maroc Telcom, Medi Telecom and Wana Corporate. ANRT said they were three high-quality offers, with investment commitments to contribute to the development of national telecom infrastructure. The evaluation of the bids underscored three main points. The 5-year coverage commitments are higher than the minimum sought. The QoS indicators proposed align with international best practice. The market vision and business plans will contribute to developing the broadband and superfast broadband markets in Morocco. Maroc Telecom bid MAD 1 billion (about USD 99.23 mln) for its licence, Wana Corporate MAD 503 million, and Medi Telecom MAD 500.44 million. In addition, the three operators will pay MAD 860.4 million to support the cost of refarming spectrum.

Turkey to raise minimum EUR 2.3 bln in LTE auction
2015-03-18 14:34:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Turkey's telecommunications regulator announced a minimum reserve price of EUR 2.3 billion for 4G spectrum licences. The Information and Communication Technologies Authority will tender a total 390 MHz in the 800, 900, 1,800, 2,100 and 2,600 MHz bands in the auction. The successful bidders may pay for the licences in a single payment or in four installments every six months, plus interest, according to a decree from the cabinet published in the Official Gazette. Transport and Communication Minister Lutfi Elvan said earlier in March that the aim is for at least 90 percent of the population to have 4G coverage within six years, reported the Daily Hurriyet. The licence tender should be completed by the end of May, and the 4G services should start by the end of this year. In addition to the three existing operators Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea, the country aims to attract a fourth network operator in the auction. The fourth operator will be able to bid only for the 2,600 MHz band, but will be free from other operating obligations applied to the existing operators, the minister said.
