Joy Global Inc. said it swung to an unexpected sharp loss in its fourth quarter, as oversupplied global commodities markets severely dented bookings. The Milwaukee-based maker of mining equipment issued guidance for the current fiscal year well below analyst expectations and sliced its quarterly dividend to a penny a share from 20 cents a share--a move which, if maintained, would reduce its annual cash outlay by $75 million.

FRANKFURT, Dec 15 German chipmaker Dialog Semiconductor Plc slashed its revenue guidance on Tuesday, citing weaker-than-expected demand for chips used in mobile phones such as Apple Inc's big-screen iPhone. The statement sent shares in Dialog, which is trying to buy U.S. rival Atmel Corp for about $4.6 billion, 10 percent lower in pre-market trade, according to prices quoted by brokerage Lang & Schwarz.

Dec 14 Canadian oil and natural gas producer Encana Corp , responding to a sharp drop in oil prices, has cut its 2016 capital budget by more than a quarter to $1.5-$1.7 billion. The Calgary-based oil producer, which has accelerated its spending in the Permian basin in Texas, said it would direct about half of its capital budget for the next year to Permian.

Ariad shares fall as it cuts revenue guidance

Shares of Ariad Pharmaceuticals fell Friday after it cut revenue guidance as it continues to negotiate with French regulators over the price of its leukemia treatment, Iclusig. The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based developer of cancer treatments said that it previously expected to reach an agreement by the end of the year, but it now expects negotiations to continue into 2016.
