As a member of our IT Support group, you will provide system administration support services to our customer, providing 1st and 2nd level support to the customers mission critical GNULinux and Solaris systems. This includes preventive and corrective system administrative tasks, interface to thirdparty HW repair and COTS support maintenance contractors. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a suitable educational level, such as a university degree in a relevant technical subject. You should have proven knowledge and work experience on GNULinux operating systems and Solaris. Mandatory skills Proven knowledge and at least 1 year handson experience with the following is mandatory GNULinux system administration using different distributions SLES, RHEL File System administration EXT24, BTRFS, XFS Bash scripting IT system design Definition, implementation, testing and documentation of endtoend system changes Preparation of technical documentation in English in a complete and clear manner In addition, experience with some or all of the following will be advantageous Solaris system installation, administration and troubleshooting AIX and HPUX system installation, administration and troubleshooting High availability 247 operational environments Network troubleshooting Experience with the monitoring tools based on Nagios VMWare virtualization ITIL certification It is also an advantage if you can carry out basic hardware support such as installing interface cards or physically setting up networks. Solaris and Linux System Engineer or Administrator. This is a permanent position, calling for at least 5 years experience of Solaris and Linux system administration in high availability environments. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. The requirement is for a start as soon as possible and certainly within three months. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English.
