America's Shale Debuts in Global Gas Trade With First Cargo

The liquefied natural gas tanker Asia Vision left Cheniere Energy Inc.'s Sabine Pass export terminal in Louisiana on Wednesday with the first cargo of U.S. shale gas, according to Sabine Pilots, the group that helps guide vessels through the region's waterway. The tanker, carrying 3 billion cubic feet, is bound for Brazil.

Feb 24 The long-awaited first liquefied natural gas exports from the lower 48 U.S. states will leave Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass export terminal in Louisiana on Wednesday, a senior company executive said. That first cargo of about 3 billion cubic feet of gas will go to Petrobras in Brazil, Meg Gentle, executive vice-president of marketing at Cheniere said on the sidelines of the CERAWeek conference in Houston.

The U.S. Justice Department has started an investigation into whether top airlines have complied with contracts to carry mail cargo for the U.S. Postal Service, the three biggest U.S. passenger carriers said this week. Delta Air Lines Inc and American Airlines Group Inc have each received a civil investigative demand from the U.S. regulator about the Postal Service mail they carry, spokesmen for the companies said Friday.

NTSB addresses lithium batteries as cargo on aircraft.

NTSB issued 2 safety recommendations to physically separate lithium batteries from other flammable hazardous materials stowed on cargo aircraft and to establish maximum loading density requirements that restrict quantities of lithium batteries and flammable hazardous materials. These safety recommendations, addressed to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, are derived from the investigation of the July 28, 2011, in-flight fire and crash of Asiana Airlines Flight 991.
