Amazon said Monday that third-party sellers sold a record 2 billion items worldwide through its website in 2014. And it said that the number of such sellers who use Amazon's fulfillment and customer service under its Fulfillment by Amazon program jumped more than 65% from 2013.

Amazon said it has more than 2 million sellers and their sales account for about 40 percent of all sales on the site. The Seattle-based company said that the number of sellers using its "Fulfillment by Amazon" service, which allows Amazon Prime members to receive packages in two days, grew by 65 percent last year.
