Federal judge orders Trinity Industries to pay $663.4M in fraud case

A federal judge in Marshall has ordered Dallas-based Trinity Industries to pay $683 million in a whistleblower case that accused the company of defrauding the U.S. government. "The company believes the evidence clearly shows that no fraud was committed," Trinity said in a statement Tuesday evening.

Judge orders guardrail manufacturer pay $663 M in damages after whistleblower verdict

A federal judge has ordered the maker of a controversial guardrail end terminal to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, fines and attorney fees. US District Court Judge Rodney Gilstrap entered the ruling in the whistleblower case against Trinity Industries after Trinity and the whistleblower, Joshua Harman, were unable to reach a settlement agreement.

French court orders Goodyear to stop stripping factory

A French court has ordered US tyre company Goodyear to stop dismantling its former factory in the northern town of Amiens, which a group of ex-employees wants to take over, a union lawyer said Monday. The court in Amiens "has suspended the dismantlement of the factory for three months," said Fiodor Rilov, a lawyer for the CGT trade union which is supporting the effort to resurrect production at the site which had employed 1,173 people.
