REUTERS: Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler reached out to the chief executives of Time Warner Cable Inc and Charter Communications Inc to convey that the agency is not against cable deals, the Wall Street Journal reported. Wheeler told the CEOs that any deal would be assessed on its own merits, the newspaper cited people familiar with the matter.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission on Friday said it will pause its informal "shot-clock" on the review of the proposed $45 billion merger between Comcast Corp and Time Warner Cable Inc. The FCC said it will pause its informal 180-day clock to review the merger until Oct. 29, the new deadline for the public and stakeholders to comment, or until the agency deems Comcast's responses to the regulators' lengthy information request as complete. On Friday, the FCC's review was in day 85 of the 180-day deadline it informally imposes on itself to complete a merger review.
Dish Network petitions FCC to reject Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger

Dish Network Corp. filed a petition Monday asking the Federal Communications Commission to block the proposed merger of Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Cable Inc., saying the "unprecedented consolidation" would cause "substantial harms" to Dish and other video providers.
