With just 10 days until Christmas, people all over the country are trying to get their presents shipped out on time, making Monday the busiest day of the year for the U.S. Postal Service, and FedEx. The Postal Service expects to mail more than 640 million cards and gifts on Monday.

The company forecasts it will ship 22.6 million packages Dec. 15 and for holiday-season volume to rise 8.8% to 290 million shipments from the same time last year. "Our more than 300,000 dedicated team members around the world, combined with our continued investment in our powerful and flexible global networks, position FedEx to once again deliver outstanding customer service this holiday season," FedEx CEO Frederick Smith said in a statement.
