Family members of a Vermont couple killed by former Sprint Corp. CFO Robert Dellinger tore into him during a sentencing for negligent homicide, The Associated Press reports . Dellinger told police he was trying to kill himself when his truck veered across an interstate median, went airborne and smashed into an SUV, shearing off its top.

A former Fortune 500 executive who admitted causing a highway crash that killed a Vermont couple and their unborn fetus told a judge on Wednesday that he wasn't suicidal at the time of the crash. Prosecutors have said Robert Dellinger told investigators he was trying to kill himself in December 2013 when he drove his pickup truck across an Interstate 89 median and smashed into a sport utility vehicle carrying 24-year-old Amanda Murphy, who was eight months pregnant, and her fiance, 29-year-old Jason Timmons.
