Scientific Consultancy Support for UVNS

We are currently looking for a Scientific Consultancy Support for UVNS to support our customer in Germany. Scientific Consultancy Support for UVNS Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Remote Sensing and Products Division of the technical and scientific support department, you will have the following responsibilities Development of algorithms for calibration of UVNS level 0 data Taking into account the constraints imposed by the final goal of implementation of the products within an operational processing system Progressing of prototype software code for the purposes of testing and validation the algorithms developed Development of an instrument performance model based on specifications to be provided by industry Generation of test data required for the verification of the algorithm and products Generation of associated documentation including test data descriptions, Product Generation Specification PGS, technical reports etc Collaboration with expert groups and the wider scientific community Provision of support to algorithm, and potentially prototype software development activities, for future level 2 product development for the UVNS instrument Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University Degree in Meterology, Atmospheric Physics, Remote Sensing or equivalent Professional experience in atmospheric remote sensing in the optical spectrum Ultraviolet to Infrared Good experience with instrument calibration and characterisation Familiarity with Earth observation systems in operational meteorology, atmospheric composition and climate monitoring Familiarity with radiative transfer Handling and processing of remote sensing data Very good knowledge in a higher programming language e.g. Fortran, C Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Technical and Scientific Support Planning and Scheduling Support MF

The mission You shall provide the support in the TSS Department to the TSS Project Control and Resource Planning Team. Your tasks will typically include Planning and scheduling of the TSS projects portfolio as part of the TSS projects portfolio management system Support to the planning of resources and the reporting on resource usageavailability Support to the definition of the TSS resource management process, selection and implementation of the TSS resource management tools. Establishing a related set of schedule trackers, metrics and performance indicators allowing to manage efficiently a portfolio of projects and the allocation of resources in a matrix support environment Coordinating and tracking all planning and scheduling across the TSS Department multimission infrastructure planning, products and services, projects planning etc including maintenanceevolution of ground segment systems, operational projects and developmentevolution of observational products related activities Maintenance of the schedule documentation and update of the multiprojects planning database in coordination with the schedule responsible Documentation and analysis of schedule assumptions, modifications, deviations, risks, critical path and milestone trend evolution. Development and update of schedule indicators Ensuring that all planning and scheduling conflicts are resolved Support to and participation in schedule review meetings with relevant TSS teams. Participation in meetings to understand status of activities, as necessary Organise the weekly TSS planning and scheduling meetings Provide planning for the TSS management meetings Support the TSS reporting reviews, actions and recommendations As relevant, providing planning support to major Programme activities including the preparations for the launch and commissioning of new satellites Ensuring all plans and schedules are distributed both internally and also to relevant external partnersentities using email, Intranet and Extranet Coordinating the evolution and update of the TSS Department Intranet and Extranet pages for ground segment systems and products development related activities liaising with all TSS Divisions Preparation and production of reports monthly progress report, technical reports as necessary. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you shall have a strong experience in planning and scheduling. Direct experience of scheduling for space segment programmes andor ground segment development and operations will be considered as an advantage. Furthermore, you shall have a minimum of 5 year experience with the following Planning and scheduling within a large project including conflict resolution Project Portfolio management working experience in managing portfolio of projectsactivities Expert level usage of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel Proven experience in using schedulingplanning tools Experience in business process definition will be seen as an advantage. You shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to provide the support with the minimum of supervision.
