European car sales rose 6.3pc to 1.1m vehicles last month, industry data showed, even as Europe's largest carmaker, Volkswagen, saw registrations of VW-branded cars fall 4pc in the wake of a diesel emissions scandal. VW's rivals Ford and General Motors's Opel posted rises in sales of 11.4pc and 12.4pc respectively, according to car registration data for European Union and European Free Trade Association countries.

The Maguire family of car dealerships, known for its no-haggle pricing policy, has expanded from the Ithaca and Watkins Glen areas with the opening of Maguire Nissan on West Genesee Street in Syracuse. Maguire recently acquired the Bill Rapp Nissan franchise, which operated at 3446 Burnet Ave., and relocated it, along with Rapp Nissan's service technicians, to the former Saturn store at 716 W. Genesee St. Maguire Nissan opened at 716 W. Genesee St. Nov. 2. The Maguire name is not yet on the building but will be soon.
VW's European car sales, market share slip after emissions scandal

Nov 17 Volkswagen's European sales and market share slipped in October, industry data showed on Tuesday, as the German carmaker's emissions-cheating scandal began to take its toll at a time when the overall market continued to grow. New passenger car registrations in the European Union and European Free Trade Association trading block rose 2.7 percent last month on a year ago to 1.14 million vehicles, according to the Brussels-based Association of European Carmakers .
