MENA SVOD revenues to triple

According to Digital TV Research, MENA SVOD revenues will reach $2.97 billion by 2025, tripling between 2019 and 2025. Turkey will grow to $908 million by 2025, with Saudi Arabia adding $563 million and Israel $470 million.

TikTok to bring short videos to Iflix SVoD service in Asian markets

(Telecompaper) Global video app TikTok has partnered with Southeast Asian video-on-demand entertainment service Iflix to bring short-form videos from a variety of categories to audiences in 13 countries across Asia. The partnership brings TikTok's collection of short-form viral videos from around the world to all Iflix users on a dedicated 'TikTok' channel.

Digital TV Research forecasts 9.72 million SVOD subscriptions by 2025, up from 2.68 million at end-2019. South Africa (3.24 million by 2025) will remain the subscription leader, with Nigeria (2.14 million) in second place.

SVoD subscriptions in N. America to grow at 9% CAGR from 2019 to 2023

North Americas SVOD market will close 2019 with an estimated 147 million subscriptions, expanding at a CAGR of 9% through 2023, according to GlobalData. The US market is one of the most competitive SVoD markets worldwide.

(Telecompaper) The Telecompaper Global Media index was up 1.3 percent, outperforming the S&P 500 (+0.9%). ComScore, up 31 percent, was the biggest winner, followed by Lions Gate (+14%) and Discovery (+13%). The weakest shares included Zee Entertainment (-7.1%), Snap (-6.5%) and News Corp (-6.3%). The main news, apart from earnings reports, came from Discovery, Walt Disney and ITV, all launching or planning to launch streaming video services.
