Commscope confirms Arris takeover for USD 7.4 billion

(Telecompaper) Commscope has confirmed an agreement to acquire Arris for USD 7.4 billion including debt. The deal will more than double Commscope's annual revenues, strengthening its position in the wireless market with the takeover of Ruckus Networks and expanding its addressable market to the home gateway and video delivery markets. The Carlyle Group has agreed to invest USD 1 billion for a 16 percent stake in Commscope to help finance the acquisition.

German regulator asks EC for say on Vodafone takeover of Unitymedia

Disney agrees to sell factual channels to win EU approval for Fox takeover

(Telecompaper) The European Commission has approved Disney's planned takeover of 21st Century Fox with the condition that the companies divest several factual channels. These are the channels History, H2, Crime & Investigation, Blaze and Lifetime, which are controlled by A+E Television Networks, a joint venture between Disney and Hearst. The Commission said the concession would resolve its concerns about reduced competition on the market for wholesale supply of TV channels following the merger.

AT&T posts double-digit growth in Q3 results as Warner takeover offsets legacy business

(Telecompaper) AT&T reported a double-digit increase in third-quarter revenues and profit, boosted by the first full quarter including Time Warner. The acquisition helped offset continued losses in pay-TV subscribers and lower service revenues in the mobile and fixed businesses. The US operator maintained its outlook for growth in full-year adjusted earnings and cash flow and said it's making progress with debt reduction.
