Ontario to allow beer sales in 450 grocery stores, sell 60% of Hydro One

Ontario's Liberal government plans to hike the tax on beer and sell a majority stake in Hydro One, a huge transmission utility, to raise about $4 billion to fund infrastructure projects. The government's revised agreement with the foreign-owned Beer Store shows it will raise $100 million a year "by applying a volumetric tax or markup" on all beer sold in Ontario.

Downed hydro pole knocked out power for hundreds in Scarborough

Hundreds of Toronto Hydro customers were in the dark on Wednesday morning after a car took out a hydro pole, sparking a grass fire. The car struck the pole on Canadian Road, near Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road, around 3 a.m. and caused a chain reaction.
