Spain's Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT) has published statistics for the country for the first quarter of 2013. Total pay TV subscribers dropped below 4 million at the end of the quarter, down from around 4.4 million at the same point in 2012.

MTN grows subscriber base 3.2% to 195.4 mln in Q1

(Telecompaper) MTN Group increased its subscriber numbers by 3.2 percent over the first quarter to 195.4 million. Growth was led by Nigeria, where it added a net 3.9 million new customers in the three months, helping offset a net loss of 470,000 customers in its home market South Africa. Customer numbers were also up in Ghana (290,000), Cameroon (192,000), Ivory Coast (354,000), Uganda (248,000) and Syria (364,000). MTN maintained its guidance for net additions over the full year of 21 million.

Viasat Nordic satellite subscriber base continues to decline

Modern Times Group (MTG) [Stockholm: MTGA, MTGB] has announced results for the quarter ended 31 December 2012. Viasat's Nordic satellite subscriber base ended 2012 at 592,000, down from 603,000 at the end of the previous quarter and from 638,000 at the end of 2011.

Bell TV Canada subscriber base up 2.5% in 2012

BCE (TSX, NYSE: BCE) has reported BCE and Bell results for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2012. Bell Fibe TV added 48,234 net new customers. Satellite TV net additions were negative. The Bell TV subscriber base totalled 2,155,983 at the end of Q4.
