It's only been five days since AMD launched the Radeon HD 7790, but Nvidia's counter-stroke has been swift in coming. The new GTX 650 Ti Boost matches many of the Radeon 7790's features, like multi-GPU configuration support, as well as adding a wider memory bus, more RAM, faster clock speeds, and a higher pixel fillrate.

As demand for PC processors plummets, Advanced Micro Devices has borrowed technologies from mobile devices and gaming consoles as a way to perk up sales for its latest A-series laptop processors that were introduced on Tuesday. AMD's latest A-series processors code-named Richland replace existing laptop chips code-named Trinity, which were introduced around the middle of last year. The Richland x86 processors deliver between 20 percent and 40 percent more performance than Trinity chips, AMD has said.

AMD's Richland is debuting today, as a modest refresh of the Trinity platform that debuted last year. Rumors that the chip would contain a major new GPU core or other significant tech advance were incorrect, but there are some power improvements and software updates that should make the chip more attractive to OEMs.
