Blue Coat gets new COO from Intel

(Telecompaper) Blue Coat Systems announced it has appointed Michael Fey as president and chief operating officer effective immediately. Fey comes from Intel, where he was CTO of the Intel Security Group and executive vice president and general manager of corporate products at McAfee. At Blue Coat, he will focus on aligning the company's portfolio of web security, encryption management, cloud offerings and threat protection solutions with customer requirements. Additionally, he will be responsible for field and customer-facing business operations, and collaborating on strategy. Fey replaces David Murphy, who will continue as a strategic advisor to the CEO and board.
US intel agency is developing a superconducting exascale computer and cryogenic memory

The secretive R&D wing of the US government's intelligence efforts, IARPA, has announced a program to build a superconducting computer. IARPA will be working with IBM, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman to develop this superconducting computer, but the exact financial details of the deal are not available. Ultimately, the purpose of the program is to build an exascale supercomputer -- a computer that is capable of at least 1,000 petaflops (1 exaflop), or about 40 times faster than the world's existing supercomputers.
