Description The selected candidate will operate within the Prime Electrical Engineering team which is led by the lead Electrical Architect. Within this team, there are dedicated architects for Data handling, RF Engineering, EMC and Power. The selected candidate will operate under the Power architect for Power activities and the Lead Electrical Architect for the more general electrical support tasks. The Power Subsystem comprises two major contracts, the Electrical Power SubSystem EPS and the Solar Array Subsystem SA. The selected candidate will be primarily involved in the EPS activities though will also be providing support to the Solar Array related activities. The EPS consists of the Power Control and Distribution Unit, Battery, Solar Array Drive Assembly and Solar Array Drive Electronics. The role of the selected candidate is to ensure the quality of the EPS suppliers work by the process of review and shadow analysis. Additionally, the selected candidate will perform all necessary analyses and confirm requirements to ensure correct operation of the EPS within the spacecraft system with the harness, the solar array, the load units, the spacecraft FDIR and spacecraft onboard operations. To achieve this, the selected candidate will interface with the rest of the Prime team, providing reviewed and checked inputs coming from the EPS supplier possibly with post processing to the rest of the Prime team. The selected candidate will also support more generally the Prime team by providing targeted electrical circuit review support during unit design reviews for circuit performance, failure modes and derating. Requirements for the EPS and SA already exist and are mature. However, the selected candidate will ensure that these are maintained and updated as needed to match development of the rest of the spacecraft. Prime uses the DOORS requirement tracking tool for this and access will be made available as required. This tool is also used for Verification tracking and close out and the selected candidate will also be expected to maintain verification closeout references within this tool and support ESA Verification Control Board reviews. As part of this, the selected candidate will also provide test requirements and assess test results for Prime level test campaigns spacecraft and development bench. The Prime Electrical Engineering team reports to the Prime Project Management, Engineering management and Product Assurance and the selected candidate will support these functions by providing regular schedule and progress inputs and contributing to the spacecraft CDR documentation set. The following activities shall be performed Technical review and support the procurement of the EPS and its associated equipment Review at subsystem level Maintenance of the Requirement specification for the EPS Review of the EPS units PCDU, SADA and Battery Schedule and Risk inputs to the Prime team for the EPS, PCDU, SADA and Battery Technical support to the procurement of the Solar Array Review of the technical documentation of the power subsystems and units Review EPS, EPS units and Solar array subsystem test plans, test procedures and test reports Support subsystem supplier, unit level MRRTRRDRB activities Generation of Prime level synthesis analysis from EPS level analyses and spacecraft inputs Generate Prime level Power Subsystem documentation inputs based on EPS supplier inputs Generation of related inputs into the Prime Engineering team including Inputs to harness requirement specification voltage drop, harness losses. Requests for standby support must be authorised by the technical representative. During periods of standby support, the Consultant shall respond to calls by telephone or beeper outside normal working hours, and shall provide remote support to Operations. The Consultant may, by telephone, ascertain the nature of the problem but must be available, if required, to report to the Mission Control Centre within one hour of callout. In such a case the callout support will essentially aim at restoring the mission. REPORTING Formal reporting is required at monthly intervals or in the event of a major task completion. The monthly reports and any other reports or technical documentation generated shall be submitted in writing directly to the technical representative. The work will be released in individual Work Packages.
