You will be assigned one or several of the following tasks Space segment maintenance engineering Define changes to the European space programs maintenance concepts and requirements Elaborate the maintenance concept associated to the system evolutions Ensure the technical interface with industrial or institutional players for Space Segment maintenance and its evolution Support operations from anomalies root cause investigation to validation from cradle to grave Assess the impact of the Segment maintenance activities and its evolutions on Segment qualification status Followup the preparation and conduction of LEOP and IOT Analyze the key performance indicators related to the SSEG. Operations and Service Provision concept Contribute to the elaboration of the Operations and service provision concept, including the use of ground centers and stations Technical followup of operation processes Support transition from current operations to future service operator migration scenarios analysis, operations transition plans Support the management of contracts and associated Ground Operations Ensure consistency of technical and operations requirements baseline during ground segment evolution process specify and verify elements functions following changes, troubleshooting and validation activities Define the approach to and follow up operational validation of major systemSW releases and support the EUSPA for managing the integration of new services within the operational baseline Define and analyze the relevant KPIs analyze the operations changes baseline configuration changes or deviations, operation processes evolutions and services provision transitions Participate in the Anomaly Review Boards, define criticalityurgency for anomaly resolution, setting adequate priorities and ensuring and monitoring the timely management by industry of anomalies reports Launch and Early Operations Phase LEOP and In Orbit Test IOT Services consolidation Contribute to the LEOP and IOT definition Define the approach to ensure appropriate LEOP Infrastructures Define the approach to ensure appropriate IOT Infrastructures Define the interfaces during conduction of LEOP and IOT operations Followup LEOP and IOT Skills Experience in satellite missions, in particular EU Space programs Experience in Space segment engineering, maintenance andor operations Able to work in an interdisciplinary team Selfstarter, able to work independently with no supervision Management skills Willingness to travel several days per month Fluent in English, both in speech and writing Other language skills would be a plus Academic requirements a University or similar degree in engineering or similar discipline. Your core tasks will be Support the definition and implementation of PA, QA, RAMS baseline based on the tailoring of the applicable requirements and the related European Cooperation on Space Standardization ECSS standards Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of an effective product assurance program by maintaining and ensuring application of the internal processes applicable to the PAQA, service engineering and service provision discipline Control that the Organization, Resources and Planning are commensurate to the Service Level Agreement Ensure that the contractor inputs used by the PA disciplines are consistent and complete, and available in line with the project schedule Ensure that the output and deliverables produced by the PA disciplines are consistent, complete, and delivered in line with the project schedule Control contractors product assembly and delivery processes Control the quality of suppliers products Ensure the provision of PA contribution to the verification activities Ensure that the qualification and approval programs are defined, approved, maintained and implemented Contribute to the definition of an effective nonconformance control system operating across all sites, and support the documentation, followup and closure of anomaly reports and nonconformance reports Ensure that the qualification results are recorded, evaluated and documented Ensure the maintenance and control of Qualification Status Lists Status of PA reviews Audits Status Reports List of Waiver requests Nonconformances minor and major List Critical items List. Establish and maintain an audit plan for procurement and development Support the implementation of personnel training and certification related to PA, QA and RAMS Contribute to Configuration Management Contribute towards the definition implementation and followup of dependability, reliability and availability program, including maintenance and update of RAMS models Review and assess the results of RAMS analysis Contribute to the definition and followup of software product assurance. Therefore, we require Spacecraft Operations Engineers SOEs with a minimum of 2 years Spacecraft subsystem knowledge Data HandlingOBSMAOCSPowerThermal and experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations. Depending on the mission, we need several SOEs with a wide range of operational experience. As a member of our SOE team working onsite at the European Spacecraft Operations Centre ESOC, you will be directly involved in the preparation of and eventual operation of hightechnology space missions. The positions are all fulltime, permanent and starting from midJanuary 2021 through to early 2021. The team will nominally be located at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. ResponsibilitiesDuties The general activities, which have to be performed by the SOEs, are familiarisation with the mission, the project specific characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation. You will participate in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations, prepare and validate Flight Control and Contingency Procedures, as well as support a Mission Management and Mission Planning Service. Support to the Mission Control System evolution and testing and participation in the team Training Programme and performing Mission Critical Operations should be expected. In delivering our Flight Control Support Service and performing an analysis of the Spacecraft Performance, you will be part of an outstanding Flight Control Team. Who you are You hold a University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. You have 2 years or more of experience working in satellite operations and operations preparation. Last, but not least your experience in Earth Observation Missions and Satellite Control Centres will be a huge plus! Crucial Skills Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations, specifically Platform knowledge, such as Data Handling, OBSM, AOCS, Power Thermal subsystems and Payload operations. Proficiency in English, both in speech and writing is expected, as is a teamplayer mentality and at the same time displaying the ability to work independently. Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat and with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000, would be a distinct advantage. Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation, Satellite Verification Test planning execution and participation in LEOPs will also be a strong asset. Desirable Skills Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc. and familiarity with MOIS, or a similar procedure generation tool. Specifically for the BIOMASS mission, experience with the AS250 Platform and for the FLEX mission, with the Proteus Platform would be distinct advantage.
