U.S. Court Rejects Motorola Mobility Price-Fixing Appeal

A federal appeals court on Wednesday rejected Motorola Mobility's attempt to hold several Asian suppliers liable under U.S. antitrust law for fixing prices of mobile phone displays sold to its foreign units. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago said Motorola Mobility, a unit of Lenovo Group, could not invoke U.S. antitrust law because its foreign subsidiaries had been the "immediate victims" of a conspiracy to boost prices on liquid crystal display screens.

Executives of NSK Ltd, Jtekt Corp indicted for price-fixing U.S. Justice Dept

Two executives from Japanese auto parts manufacturers have been indicted as part of the U.S. Justice Department's long-running investigation into price-fixing in the auto parts industry, the department said on Friday. Hiroya Hirose, who works for NSK Ltd, and Masakazu Iwami of Jtekt Corp were indicted on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky on charges of conspiring to fix the prices of bearings sold to Toyota Motor Corp, the department said.

Hitachi Metals Will Plead Guilty to Price-Fixing

Hitachi Metals will pay the U.S. government $1.25 million for conspiring to fix prices and rig bids for a part installed in American Toyotas. The Tokyo-based successor in interest to Hitachi Cable faces the fine after pleading guilty Friday to a one-count felony charge in Toledo, Ohio.
