Friday, 04 September 2015 15:24:57 US fines Japan firm $65 mn for auto parts price-fixing WASHINGTON, Sept 4 : Japanese auto parts supplier NGK Insulators has agreed to plead guilty to a price-fixing conspiracy and pay a $65.3 million criminal fine, US authorities said Thursday. The Justice Department said that NGK Insulators also will plead guilty to obstruction of justice for impeding its investigation, but the company has now agreed to cooperate in the probe.

Third Circuit Remands Class Certification Ruling in Blood Reagents Price-Fixing Case

On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a district court's order certifying a class of direct purchasers of blood reagents in a price-fixing suit against Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics Inc. In re Blood Reagents , case number 12-4067. Plaintiffs allege that Ortho-Clinical Diagnostic Inc. and a producer of blood reagents, violated Section 1 of the Sherman Act by conspiring with the only other U.S. producer of reagents, Immucor Inc., to raise prices of blood reagents on numerous occasions throughout the 2000s.

Cathay Pacific among airlines sued over price-fixing

Photo: Bloomberg German railway operator Deutsche Bahn is seeking damages of about US$2.5 billion from more than a dozen airlines, including Cathay Pacific Airways, arising from lawsuits that allege the carriers engaged in cargo cartels.
