FCC sees first bid to block net neutrality rules implementation

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has received the first request to delay the implementation of new Internet regulations from a communication architect who said the rules threaten his business, a filing disclosed on Wednesday showed. The FCC's new so-called net neutrality rules are slated to go into effect in June.

(Telecompaper) China Telecom reported first-quarter revenues down 2.1 percent year-on-year to CNY 81.45 billion. Service revenues slightly decreased by 0.2 percent to CNY 72.7 billion. EBITDA also decreased by 2.2 percent to CNY 24.5 billion, while net profit went down 9.2 percent to CNY 5 billion. For the first quarter of 2015, the number of mobile subscribers of the group reached 189 million, following a cumulative net addition of 3.20 million users in the period.

"Net Driven's keen focus on specific niches within the automotive industry has created a thriving business that nicely complements our existing technology solutions servicing automotive OEMs and franchise dealers," said Robert Brisco, CEO, president and director of El Segundo, Calif.-based Internet Brands.

Kia Motors Q1 net profit up 3.1 percent

Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, said Friday its first quarter net profit rose slightly from a year earlier despite falls in sales revenue. Net income came to 903.2 billion won during the January-March period, up 3.1 percent from a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.

DTAC revenues, net profit decline in Q1

(Telecompaper) Thai mobile operator DTAC's total revenues for the first quarter increased by 1.9 percent to THB 22.8 billion, mainly boosted by handset sales and mobile data revenue growth, offset by a decline in voice revenue, the company said. Service revenue decreased 3.6 percent year-on-year to THB 16.7 billion. Handset and starter kit sales rose by 35 percent year-on-year, while voice revenue amounted to THB 7.7 billion, which represents a decrease of 18 percent in the period. Data revenue reached THB 7.4 billion, increasing by 13 percent from the first quarter of 2014.
