Nigerian government expects digital broadcasting switch to yield USD 1.1 billion

(Telecompaper) Information minister Lai Mohammed says the Digital Switchover (DSO) will fetch Nigeria USD 1.1 billion from the collection of TV licences and digital access fees, Premium Times reported. Mohammed said the spectrum vacated once the analogue to digital migration has been completed "will fetch USD 1 billion on its own."

Telia gains EU approval for Bonnier Broadcasting acquisition with conditions

(Telecompaper) Telia Company has announced that the European Commission has approved its acquisition of Bonnier Broadcasting, including TV4, MTV and C More. The commission said this is conditional on full compliance with a commitments package offered by Telia to ensure competition on the Nordic broadcasting market. The commitments will be applicable in Finland and Sweden for a duration of ten years.
