High-Resolution Measurements With R&D Oscilloscopes

There is an increased necessity for more in-depth signal analysis in applications where signals are often required to be viewed with both large and small voltage details. In order to perform accurate power measurements, oscilloscopes have been introduced to acquire the voltage during the off and on times within the same waveform. However, this requires more dynamic resolution than a typical 8 bit resolution can provide. This application note introduces Rohde & Schwarz’ new oscilloscopes which enhance the vertical resolution and trigger sensitivity up to 16 bit by applying digital filtering to the signal in the acquisition path.
