Australian innovation means US giant General Motors has become the first car maker in the world to offer vehicles embedded with tech allowing owners to track real-time performance on an app. Melbourne-based Connexion Media developed the Commercial Link service for the world's second largest auto maker, which is pitching it as a way for small and medium businesses to keep track of vehicles with a view to boosting efficiency.

Biotech giant CSL said it will do more research in Australia following the Turnbull government's creation of a $250 million fund to translate basic biomedical research into commercial products. After the fund was announced this week as part of Prime Minister Turnbull's innovation agenda , the $40 billion blood products company said it was a big step in the right direction.

While the U.S. Winnebago firm had been manufacturing RVs under the name since 1959, an Australian company had been making the Winnebago-branded motorhomes for sale in Australia since 1978 without the permission of the U.S. entity.
