For our customer, Eumetsat in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking to creat a team of engineers having Ground Segment and Subsegments System Engineering experience. Responsibilities The general activities are The SW architect will perform all the analysis tasks identified below. Engineering Activities system development or upgrades Writing of Requirements document and System Concept papers Writing of possible system concepts and system architectures with traceability to identified needs, to determine levels of uncertainty and risk Conduct tradeoff studies and select the preferred system concept, together with the preferred technical solutions for this concept Establish a preliminary design definition for the selected system concept and retained technical solutions Identify and define external interfaces Determine the verification program including model philosophy Prepare the next level specification Completion of the detailed design definition of the system Completion of assembly, integration and test planning for the system and its constituent parts Detailed definition of internal and external interfaces Verification Control for the requirements to be verified by test proposedefine the testing activities. Ensure the scope is in line with the expected versions and that the testing activities can be scheduled within the foreseen timeframe Observing and analysis of IV tests run at segment andor subsegment level Writing of integration and verification test specifications Identification of test tools and test data needed and plan any necessary development of test tools and the tuningmodification of test data Based on initial test specifications and other relevant documents lower level test docs, user manuals, etc, write detailed test procedures By successive iterations, refine the test procedures until they are in a status ready to be executed Set up the test tools and refine the test data Analysis of problems and management of anomalies Contribute to or prepare the IV plans. Support the EUMETSAT team during the project reviews in relation to the IV documentation plans, VCD, RTS, . Engineering Activities System maintenance Contribute to the maintenance, for all operational ground segments, of a complete and consistent set of System Technical Documentation and ensuring it is baselined this includes associated Requirements documents Contribute to the creation of System Engineering models of Ground Segment Systems using an MBSE approach e.g. Enterprise Architect andor maintaining existing model baselines Perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification evolutions or major upgrades of the operational ground systems, for interfaces coherence and compatibility check with other ongoing developments Contribute to the IVV testing approach for major evolutions of the operational ground systems and contribute to the coordination of the installation, integration and verification of new systems into the operational infrastructure Contribute to the various OPS TSS Projects and associated reviews, as required, providing System Engineering contributions during the design phase and contribute actively to the definition of the IVV activities Contribute to the assessment of Engineering Tasks providing System Engineering expertise to CRBs and ARBs Contribute to the impact analysis of ICT evolutions in operational systems Contribute to the analysis, investigations and resolution of system and ground segment level anomalies Contribution to the OPS regular coordination processes as requested Contribute to the impact analysis of ICT evolutions in operational systems Execution of Integration and Verification Activities Scheduling and executing of all the integration and verification activities in close coordination with EUMETSAT, including requesting use of common resources such as MMEs Ensuring sufficiently in advance of execution that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or setup as necessary Organising and holding, under the direction of EUMETSAT, the corresponding Test Readiness Reviews TRR, in which the readiness of all required elements to perform a specific set of ground segment activities will be checked, any constraint dealt with and the final arrangements for the execution of the tests taken Performing the integration and verification activities and testing according to the plans, procedures and arrangements taken in the relevant readiness review, undertaking any required analysis of the resultsissues and recording the outcome in relevant reports, and anomaly reports where necessary Organising and holding in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer TO Test Review Board meetings in which completion of the integration and verification activities will be assessed Maintaining the relevant VCD and recording the results of the tests in DOORS Supporting Anomaly Review Board ARB meetings if applicable Liaising with EUMETSAT teams and development contractors for technical issues related to the utilisation of the facilities, the communication of anomalies, the followup of their resolution and installation of patches or new releases. Contribution to Validation Activities Support to scheduling and executing of all the validation activities and testing in close coordination with EUMETSAT Ensuring sufficiently in advance of the execution of the tests that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or setup as necessary Organising, supporting and holding in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer TO the corresponding Test Readiness Reviews TRR Performing assigned validation activities according to the plans, procedures and arrangements, documenting and supporting analysis of the test results Organising, supporting and holding, under the direction of EUMETSAT, the corresponding Test Review Board TRB meetings in which completion of the validation activities will be assessed Supporting Anomaly Review Board ARB meetings if applicable Liaising with EUMETSAT teams and development contractors for technical issues related to the utilisation of the facilities, the communication of anomalies, the followup of their resolution and installation of patches or new releases. This is a fulltime position to be located at EUMETSATs premises in Germany with the planned start date 1st April 2020. Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you shall have following knowledge General Skills Systems Engineering and architectural design for data processing systems, MMEs and ground segment systems Capability to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to perform systemlevel analyses for complex satellitebased systems Experience of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards Experience of interface management and definition Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition Capability to prepare and manage ICD Use of modelling and design languages for System Engineering e.g. SysML and tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. Enterprise Architect Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software lifecycles and standards Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation IVV of complex systems Experience in operational environments under strict configuration management rules Experience in maintenance of ground system and associated anomaly management process Experience in change control procedures.
