Bloomberg: Carbon dioxide emissions in the European Unions cap-and-trade program, the worlds largest, probably fell to a record last year as warmer-than-average weather curbed demand for gas and power. Emissions from companies covered by the program dropped 5.8 percent to 1.798 billion metric tons in 2014, according to the median forecast of six analysts surveyed by Bloomberg before the EU makes the data public on Wednesday. In settlement with the United States and states of Alabama and Oklahoma, Continental Carbon Company has agreed to install pollution control technology that will significantly cut emissions of harmful air pollutants at manufacturing facilities in Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas. Settlement will resolve claims that Houston-based company violated Clean Air Act by modifying their facilities in way that caused release of excess sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.
