Approved death claims related to GM ignition switch recall rise to 104

The number of approved death compensation claims related to a recall of a faulty General Motors ignition switch has risen to 104, compared to a total of 100 one week earlier. The claims were approved by a fund set up by GM to compensate victims of a defective part in mid-to-late-2000s model cars that has led to a massive recall and a federal investigation.

Supreme Court Favors Employees in Retirement Plan Fiduciary Claims Against Edison Intl.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday revived claims made by Edison International employees who accused the utility of favoring higher-cost mutual funds over lower-cost ones in its retirement plan. On a 9-0 vote, the court threw out an appeals court ruling that limited the number of claims that could be made in the case involving Edison's retirement plan management.

Researcher's Airplane-Hacking Claims May Not Fly

A security researcher who last month bragged he'd hacked into a passenger jet's internal computer systems while in flight appears to have performed the act more than a dozen times over a three-year period. Chris Roberts, founder and CTO of One World Labs, told FBI investigators earlier this year that he'd hacked into the flight systems of commercial passenger aircraft from 15-20 times.

Law Enforcement discredits man's claims of hacking plane

U.S. law enforcement officials have no credible evidence that commercial airplane cockpits have been hacked from passengers' seats, contradicting a man who claims he did just that. While most airplanes can't be hacked because flight-control computers are separate from the connections passengers use, newer aircraft have more interconnections, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said an April 14 report.
