The grand opening of an L.L. Bean store in Vermont has ruffled some feathers, with an owl attacking a hawk in a shopping mall display. The Burlington Free Press reports witnesses said the owl squeezed the hawk in its claws for several minutes, causing the hawk to shriek.

Despite Vermont becoming the first state in the U.S. to ban the practice of fracking more than two years ago , Vermonters are, to this day, willfully risking arrest to stop more fracking infrastructure from coming into their state. On Monday, 64 Vermonters were arrested at Governor Peter Shumlin's office in protest of a new fracked gas pipeline proposal - the largest civil disobedience action the state has seen since the Winooski 44's protest of the Iran-Contra scandal in 1984.

Climate change activists will renew their call for the state to divest from coal, oil and gas companies, and one lawmaker says he will introduce first-in-the-nation legislation to do so. In the 2014 legislative session, a divestment bill was thwarted by concerns it would risk the growth of state employees' retirement funds.
