GEO Configuration Management Engineer 1613163 Job Description We are looking for a GEO Configuration Management Engineer for our client EUMETSAT. You shall support the Information Management and Configuration Management Competence Area of the Process Assurance and Management Support Division PRS. Your general tasks will be to provide support to the GEO Configuration Manager by Managing the documentation under configuration control according to the agreed procedures and supporting the release of relevant configuration listsreports Act as secretary of Configuration Control Board meetings, prepare and convene the meetings, analyse the proposed engineering changes, prepare the relevant Minutes of Meeting, and notify the external entities as necessary Follow up the change process with the related action items, to ensure timely information availability on the status of changes Track versions of hardware and software items and documentation according to the evolution of the configured items Verify the hardware and software configuration status by performing configuration audits Maintain up to date the configuration management databases Support the drafting, review and update of the Product Documentation Trees, generate and maintain the Configuration Item lists Support the drafting, reviews and update of the Configuration Management Plans and related Working Practice and Procedures Support the definition and maintenance of Baselines at Programme, System and Ground Segment Levels Issue Configuration Status Accounting Reports for the configuration items under direct EUMETSAT responsibility Support the definition of Configuration Management Requirements Support technical reviews for Configuration Management aspects Support Design Reviews organised at EUMETSAT, coordinating the distribution of the datapackage to the reviewers, in coordination with the Information Management function. Contribute to the advertisement and continuous improvements of applicable EUMETSAT CM processes, procedures, guidelines. Document and perform validation testing on new Generic Dimensions Framework the EUMETSAT corporate CM tool releases. Contribute to the provision of S.M.A.R.T. requirements for CM Tool enhancements Attend the regular coordination PRS CM meetings, report on the progress of assigned actions, raise issues requiring management attention, and exchange with other PRS CM members on respective experiences and best solutions to address common issues Required Skills and Experience A University degree in computer science or engineering At least 5 years of demonstrated experience conducting and implementing Configuration Management of large scale, softwarecentred systems in an operational environment, preferably for highavailability 24hday systems like e.g. processingproduction chains, data centres or satellite systems. Note Experience in Quality Assurance, space system project control andor process modelling of largescale systems with a very good understanding of project development life cycle methodologies would be considered, providing that adequate knowledge and involvement in Configuration Management activities is also demonstrated. Proven significant knowledge and experience in specifying, reviewing and implementing Configuration Management plans, processes and working practices, or at least extensive experience in providing management support to programmes or projects in development Significant experience in project development methodologies, and in particular in configuration management including the definition or review of upstream source code configuration management requirements, control of configuration evolutions of systems software, hardware, databases, satellite and ground system procedures, documents, media, COTS software and COTS Licences, up to the testing and deployment of new releases on configuration controlled environments Extensive knowledge and experience with configuration management tools e.g. Serena Dimensions CM, Jira or Clearcase or business process management tools electronic workflows Experience of software development on a medium or large size project Extensive knowledge and experience with process modelling tools and techniques Extensive knowledge and experience of a Configuration Management, Quality Assurance or Project Management standard e.g. ISO, ANSI, ECSS, CMMI Proven experience in planning, developing and implementing training sessions andor coaching sessions to users and stakeholders. Your Tasks The position aims to support existing Client Operational or preOperational systems MSG, EPS, MultiMission Elements..., and possibly future programmes MTG, EPSSG.... During the PreOperations and Routine Operations phases and in the frame of the configuration identification phase, the tasks of the Contractor will typically include the creationmodificationdeletion and the version tracking of the following Configuration Items Hardware items e.g. computers, infrastructure Comms equipments Software items e.g. Software applications, COTS and associated Licences Documentation e.g. SpacecraftGround Segment Operational Guides, Manuals and Procedures. In support to Change control processes, the Key person shall Administer and perform an endtoend tracking of Change Requests and Proposals Administer and perform an endtoend tracking of Configuration Items impacted by approved Changes, and related actions Keep up to date the database recording the mapping between Changes and Configuration Items, and the mapping of Software items onto Hardware items Prepare and present baselines as necessary Act as the Secretary for the Change Review Board meetings, alternatively with other Configuration Management team members. In support to application software development or maintenance processes, the Key person shall Ensure the proper identification and archiving of software releases delivered by external or internal maintenance teams Witness and crosscheck activities relevant to software installation Provide support to the configuration management of source code and data files.
