Microsoft to deliver Lync-Skype integration in June

Microsoft will demonstrate on Tuesday for the first time an integration between its Lync enterprise IM, audio and video conferencing server, and its Skype consumer counterpart, the latest Microsoft response to the consumerization of IT trend. At its Lync Conference in San Diego, Microsoft officials will show the ability for Lync and Skype users to contact each other, launch IM text sessions and communicate via audio calls.

Microsoft quietly raises prices of Mac Office by up to 17 percent

Microsoft has quietly raised prices of Office for the Mac as much as 17 percent and stopped selling multi-license packages of the application suite. The move puts Office for Mac 2011 on the same pricing schedule as the new Office 2013 for Windows. The price increases and the disappearance of the multi-license bundles also makes Microsoft's Office 365, a software-by-subscription deal the company has aggressively pushed, more competitive with traditional "perpetual" licenses.

Microsoft attracts 60 mln Outlook.com users in 6 months

(Telecompaper) Microsoft's Outlook.com has attracted 60 million active users in the first six months, a third of them having switched from Google's Gmail, according to Microsoft. The software giant said Outlook.com was the world's fastest growing e-mail service. Microsoft is launching the service formally after a six-month "preview period". From 18 February, Microsoft will start upgrading every Hotmail user to Outlook.com seamlessly. They will keep their @hotmail.com address, user ID, password, contacts, etc.
