We are looking for an EMC Engineer E3 to join our Modis Aerospace team, working onsite at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands. Specific tasks to be performed Supporting projects for EMC throughout all phases with review, analysis and assessment of test results Witness EMC tests and perform tests in the TECEPE EMC lab Act as support to ESA Payload Safety Review Panel for el. safety and EMC. General tasks to be performed Functional Support in EMC engineering to Agencys Projects throughout all phases of Project life cycle. This includes Definition and assessment of EMC requirements at both System and Equipment level. Definition and assessment of EMC test and verification procedures of spacecraft equipment and systems. Electromagnetic and circuital analyses. Assessment of EMC test results, EMC nonconformances and Request for Waivers. Troubleshooting activities for spacecraft equipment and system exhibiting electromagnetic interference. Active participation to Spacecraft or payloads Preliminary Design Reviews PDR, Critical Design Reviews CDR and Flight Acceptance Reviews FAR. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required PhD or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering. Background and experience in EMC as well as Lab testing for EMC, preferably in spacecraft systems. Expertise in EMC analysis and testing through industrial experience. Expertise in using Matlab for data processing and evaluation. Ability to work in a team as well as independently, good communication skills. Acquaintance with both Industrial EMC practices and the Agency review processes. Assessment of EMC test data, specifications and request for Waivers. Weve had significant involvement in over 200 space missions and operate at the very forefront of UK Space Research. RAL Space was recently awarded 99m from the UK Government to develop the National Satellite Test Facility NSTF, which is now in the early construction phase. This stateoftheart facility will provide a world class set of colocated facilities for the assembly, integration and testing of space payloads and satellites. Once completed, the NSTF will have the capability to conduct Antennae, Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC, Vibration, Acoustic, Thermal and Pyroshock testing for payloads up to 7 tonnes within clean room conditions. About The Role As a result of the NSTF project, we now have a fantastic new opportunity for an Antennas and Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC Test Group Leader to join us to take the lead on the operation of the planned Electromagnetic compatibility and Antennae testing facilities. You would be joining us from the early stages of the facility development which gives the unique opportunity to build and lead a team of test engineers and to shape the operation of the facilities and the test campaigns from the very beginning. Your role will be to hold overall technical responsibility for agreeing the test programme from bid stage onwards through to successful delivery. With the majority of the facilities to be expected to operate to ECSSQST2007C, the Group Leader will work closely with the RAL Space Quality function to ensure compliance through the lifetime of the facilities. A key part of this important role will be engaging with the users of the facility and the wider testing community to keep abreast of the latest technical developments and then championing and driving technical developments in the facility. About You If you have dedicated experience of operating test facilities either radio frequencyantennae measurement or EMC as well as previous experience of managing and providing technical leadership to medium sized teams in this field, then we would really like to hear from you. You may be educated to degree level or equivalent or you may have a vocational qualification. As well as experience in this area, its important to us is that you have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence on a technical basis with a wide range of customers. A dedicated, selfmotivated and positive approach is key with the ability to motivate and empower others as this exciting new project moves forwards. Summary An opportunity for an experienced EMC Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK. Objective Providing expert technical support on EMC activities within the TECEPE Section for ESA Projects, throughout all phases, with review, analysis and assessment of EMC test results. The role includes witnessing and performing EMC tests in the TECEPE EMC laboratory.
