AAMA has updated and released a document specifying requirements of cellular PVC exterior profiles used in windows, doors, and skylights. Standard now includes use of reworked materials, change in heat resistance, in-process quality control sampling methods, and up-to-date references to ASTM and AAMA documents. Requirements included in publication are specifications for dimensional stability, weatherability, heat resistance, weight tolerance, heat build-up, Shore D Hardness, and lead content.

AAMA has opened registration for the AAMA 79th Annual Conference, to be held Feb 14–17 in Huntington Beach, CA. Conference registrants can look forward to annual awards banquet, which will serve to recognize members who have contributed time and talent necessary to build and sustain a powerful and respected organization. Western Region Winter Summit will immediately follow the conference in the same location, and separate registration is required.

AAMA 104-15, Procedural Guide for Certification of Manufactured Home Fenestration Products: Windows/Sliding Doors, Emergency Exit Windows and Devices, Swinging Exterior Passage Doors, lays out process for certifying these products through the AAMA program. Document was updated because it failed to provide direction to Administrator/Validator in some cases, allowing for subjective decision making, and lacked content that would qualify the program for ANSI accreditation.

AAMA to Serve as Inspection Agency for CAT certification program.

Partnering with Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC), American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) will serve as Inspection Agency (IA) for residential windows – first addition to CCHRC's Certified Alaska Tough® (CAT) program. AAMA's duties in this role will include helping CCHRC promote use of high-quality residential windows while simultaneously giving AAMA certification program licensees opportunity to showcase their products intended for extreme northern climates.

AAMA Manufacturing Safety Forum addresses risk management.

During AAMA 2015 Fall Conference, manufacturing safety was an area of focus. Terry Burkhalter, an authorized OSHA instructor and trainer, discussed risk management and safety in manufacturing. During his presentation, Burkhalter focused on many areas of workplace safety, ranging from disaster preparedness to knowing your rights as an employer/employee. Challenges faced by those in the workforce include worker compensation, aging workforce, work culture, and regulatory updates.
