Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Rep. Annie Kuster sent a letter Monday to Fairpoint CEO Paul Sunu encouraging his management team to negotiate a reasonable compromise with the more than 1,700 workers across Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire. The two Democrats say the New Hampshire Public Utility Commission has received nearly 500 complaints since Oct. 17 about service outages, lack of information and long waits for repairs.

Vermont regulator, FairPoint agree to repair plans

The Vermont Department of Public Service says FairPoint Communications has agreed to take steps to ensure timely repairs for those most vulnerable who are without phone service while a workers' strike continues. The department said Friday that it has received more than 700 complaints about FairPoint's service since workers went on strike in October.
