Chuck Carnavale, one of my "go-to" authors, wrote this interesting article a few weeks back and it raises an intriguing topic: Does optimism or pessimism deserve a place in an investor's strategy? When developing my own investment approach, I try to remove those "feelings" from my own style, but that does not mean I am correct. Many investors say go with your "gut," which I suppose has some merit, but for myself, I would prefer going with what the market tells me, along with facts that fit into my approach and keep emotions out of it completely.

A jury has awarded more than $4 million to the family of a farmworker electrocuted by a Southern California Edison power line. Pablo Padilla Ayala was working on a grapefruit farm in Hemet, 90 miles east of Los Angeles, when his aluminum ladder touched the power line in 2010.
