Location ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany Description Head of the Ground Systems Engineering and Innovation Department, Directorate of Operations. Duties Under the Director of Operations direct authority and a member of the Directorates management team, the postholder is jointly responsible for implementing the Directorates overall strategy and related change process and is also responsible for ground systems engineering and innovation activities required to support mission operations and implement innovation. The incumbent defines the Departments strategy and is responsible for developing, managing and evolving competences, technologies and services related to ground systems and infrastructure as well as technology evolution. Managing the resources delegated to the Department as well as industrial contracts and legal agreements, the postholder is responsible for carrying out Department activities which include mission operations data systems ground station engineering flight dynamics navigation support and precise orbit determination setting up a multimission infrastructure coordinating ground segment standardisation managing the Directorates software licensing Technical competencies Systems engineering Experience of management of engineering team Project and technical management Leadership competencies Fostering cooperation effective teamworking Leading change Strategic vision business context Developing motivating people Behavioural competencies Communication Relationship Management Ambassadorship Planning Organisation Systems Broader Business Thinking Education Applicants should have at least a university Masters degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification. Additional requirements Experience in the management of complex systems for space missions would be an asset. As a general requirement for any position at managerial level within ESA, candidates are expected to have proven experience of leading, motivating and developing a team the ability to provide strategic direction to the individuals and teams within the Office and relate team objectives to the overall and evolving organisational goals and context the ability to drive performance and foster cooperation within and across teams throughout the organisation demonstrated excellent leadership, relationship management and communication skills, both oral and written a proven track record of representing the Agencys interests to external interfaces excellent cognitive, analytical, delegation, planning and organisational skills the ability to anticipate problems, solve complex issues and relate situations to their context the ability to reach solutionoriented, pragmatic and timely decisions of high standard and integrity as well as to support others team members, upper management, other stakeholders in this process. Previous experience of managing managers and multiple teams, as well as experience outside of the candidates home country and in diverse functional areas relevant to the activitties of ESA is an asset. Head of Propulsion

We are looking for an experienced, senior engineer to lead our 6person propulsion team in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The Propulsion Manager will continue the development of our proprietary hybrid rocket motor increasing our capability from 75 Kn of thrust as demonstrated in our last testfire, and develop smaller thrust motors for our upper stage vehicle. Minimum Requirements The candidate should have at least 10 years of handson work experience with rocket motors system lifecycle phases 0E, including design, test, integration and operational use. Experience in fluid systems related to rocket motors. Experience in solid rocket motors or hybrids would be advantageous and preferred. Ability to work towards demanding deadlines, to problemsolve, innovate and manage technical risks with agility. Fully conversant with International standards ECSSMilstdNASA etc. Ability to model with CAD InventorSolidworks ideally and Fluid dynamics toolsets e.g. ASTOS. Chemical engineering, composite experience, and Lean manufacturing considered as a desired asset. The position will report to the Head of Rocket Design Development, and be based at our facility in Gold Coast, Australia.

Location ECSAT, Harwell, United Kingdom Description The postholder will be responsible for ensuring a consistent, corporate approach to ESAs physical security management and will provide security advice to the Head of the Facility Management Department, who as appropriate may issue security instructions to ensure compliance with ESA policy and procedures. The postholder will maintain an indepth and uptodate overview of the overall physical security situation in so far as it may impact ESA operations or the security of ESA staff. This includes considering potential threats at ESA establishments, centres and outstations and to staff on mission. Duties The postholder will have the following specific responsibilities providing expert advice to decisionmakers on all physical security matters under the responsibility of the Estates Facilities Management Department, providing input concerning the appropriate ESA vigilance level and other security measures to ensure they are commensurate with the prevailing security situation, globally and locally briefing the ESA Central Crisis Management Team as required when it meets to formulate responses to crises having a security component acting as senior security adviser to the ESA Corporate Physical Security Contract technical officer, ensuring full compliance with the statement of work at both corporate and local levels, monitoring agreed levels of services delivered via site managers, health safetysecurity officers and the contractors country managers managing ESAs travel security contract, acting as its technical officer and ensuring consistent implementation and service delivery, liaising with the Head of the ESA Travel Videoconferencing Unit concerning travel security matters and ensuring that all ESA mission travellers are informed of security and personalsafety issues pertaining to their destinations maintaining a permanent interface with the ESA Security Office to ensure timely implementation of physical security policy and responses to audit observations ensuring a consistent and timely response to audits and inspections carried out by that Office, providing specific advice to ensure proper allocation of resources in the physical security domain maintaining a permanent assessment of ESA establishment and centre resources manpower, tools, standard operating procedures to enable full compliance with ESA physical security policies and procedures overseeing ESAs corporate physical security infrastructure to ensure it remains fit for purpose and reflects developments within the sector, in particular considering issues of interoperability, maintenance and management through the equipment lifecycle liaising with and supporting FM site managers and health safetysecurity officers, ensuring close coordination with FM departmental managers for crisis management and business continuity performing proactive and regular expert analysis of physical security incidents to ensure early identification of trends or patterns, providing expert advice as part of a managed response liaising with the prime ESA dutyholders for matters concerning FM departmental information security managing and developing physical security awareness training programmes, providing advice from a corporate perspective when required.
