Discovery row with Telenor spreads to Norway, Finland
2016-02-01 11:54:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Telenor's broadcast arm Canal Digital said the Discovery Networks channels will not be broadcast on Canal Digital Satellitt or Canal Digital Kabel while the partners come to new terms. Canal Digital no longer has permission to air the channels, as their agreement has lapsed. It said Discovery had made an unreasonable demand of a price increase of several hundreds of millions of kroner, which it blamed on the US company's expensive sports rights purchases in the past year.

Traasdahl and his Norwegian co-founder, Dag Liodden, have together retained a 5 percent stake in Tapad. The closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. Telenor to drop Bibob brand in Denmark
2016-01-14 15:24:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Telenor Denmark announced plans to drop its Bibob brand and merge the activities with its unit CBB. The merger is planned to take effect 22 February. Bibob's existing customers will be able to continue under the same service plans and keep the same Sim cards. Both brands already share the same customer service and IT platforms and use Telenor's mobile network. Bibob's customers can use the same log-in to access CBB's online service portal. Telenor bought CBB in 2004 and Bibob in 2009. The decision to rationalise its brands on the Danish market follows the attempt to merge its mobile business with Telia, a proposal rejected by regulatory authorities.
