Flint water crisis prompts DEQ oversight proposal from Senate Democrats

Citizen commissions would oversee air and water quality efforts of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality under legislation proposed by Senate Democrats Wednesday. DEQ fines Redmond RV park owner over sewage violations

A Portland couple faces more than $23,000 in fines from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for on-site sewage violations at RV parks in Redmond and Warrenton, the agency said. The agency said two RV parks tied to Ken Hick and Cheri Cooley-Hick have been plagued by sewage on the ground, posing a health threat to residents.

DEQ Adds Fish Consumption Advisories For Eight More Oklahoma Lakes

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality has added eight more state lakes to its 2013 list of lakes which contain fish with high levels of mercury. In June 2013, DEQ published a list of 32 state lakes where some species of fish contain levels of mercury above what is considered safe for unlimited consumption.
