Net energy analysis should become standard policy tool, scientists say
2014-06-25 04:33:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
PhysOrg: Policymakers should conduct "net energy analyses" when evaluating the long-term sustainability of energy technologies, according to new Stanford University research. Net energy analysis provides a quantitative way to compare the amount of energy a technology produces over its lifetime with the energy required to build and maintain it. The technique can complement conventional energy planning, which often focuses on minimizing the financial cost of energy production, say Stanford researchers. ...

Hadoop analysis now tackling IoT to improve transit
2014-06-24 13:26:24| InfoWorld: Top News
For the Internet of Things, collecting data is only half the battle, and public transit agencies know that as well as anyone. Operators of bus, train, and trolley systems collect a wide range of data from ticket machines, fare validation devices, GPSes (Global Positioning Systems), and other sources, but typically that data stays in silos, according to Wade Rosado, director of analytics for Urban Insights, a consultancy launched on Monday to help make use of transit data.

Millimeter Wave Technology Market By Components (Sensors, Radio, Networking), Products (MM Scanners, MM RADARs, MM Small Cells), Applications (Communications, Aerospace, Healthcare, Automotive, Industrial) - Analysis & Forecast To 2020
2014-06-24 08:17:53| rfglobalnet News Articles
Millimeter Waves are the highest band of radio waves and operate at a frequency range of 20 GHz -300 GHz. The radio waves in this band have wavelengths that are in order of millimeters (mm), which is why the waves in this band are called millimeter waves, abbreviated as MM Waves. In wireless communications, frequency is one of the major factors that ascertain the feasibility of the technology.
