RBS to pay first dividend in 10 years

The bank sees first-half profits fall, but announces an interim dividend of 2p a share.

The regulator says it has "very limited" powers over actions taken by RBS's turnaround division.

The accountants will deliver their findings by September on 10 sites which have been earmarked to shut.

The shares were sold at almost half the price the government paid in its 45bn bailout of RBS in 2008.

The latest sale of 925 million shares will reduce Treasury's stake in RBS from 70.1% to 62.4%.
