General Motors says it expects pretax earnings and profit margins to increase this year over last, after adjusting last year for recall costs. At a Deutsche Bank automotive conference in Detroit on Wednesday, GM also reiterated 2016 financial targets of 10 percent pretax profit margins in North America and a return to profitability in Europe, where it last made a full-year profit in 1999.

AbbVie predicts sharp increase in earnings

AbbVie Inc. predicted sharply higher earnings for the new year, driven by rheumatoid-arthritis drug Humira and the launch of its new hepatitis C virus treatment.
