The long-awaited value offshoot of Whole Foods - officially known as 365 by Whole Foods Market - will be opening on the corner of Glendale and Fletcher avenues in Silver Lake on May 25. In case you're not completely caught up on Silver Lake's impending Whole Foods invasion, the former Ralph's location will be the first-ever location of Whole Foods' new nationwide concept that will, for the most part, feature proprietary house brand "365 by Whole Foods" products as a cheaper alternative to the usual array of Whole Foods' name-brand organics.

Commuters and businesses on both sides of the Hudson River braced for the worst as negotiators for rail unions and New Jersey Transit met again Friday to try to head off a weekend shutdown from a strike. More than 100,000 commuters use NJ Transit to get into New York, and the transit agency says its contingency plan using extra buses will only be able to accommodate about 40,000.
